Virginia Rose Gray

Ginny was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 24, 1924, to Charles Earl and Mary Audrey (Bolter) Stuart. A child of the Great Depression, she embodied the values of resilience, hard work, and loyalty. Ginny attended Train School in South Omaha from Kindergarten to 8th grade and some high school courses at Tech High.

As a World War II bride, she married Lesley Dwayne Scobee and started her family in Omaha. She eventually married the love of her life, Robert Dale "Bob" Gray and moved the family to Las Vegas in 1961. She became the mother of seven, a “yours-mine-and-ours” family.

Ginny, a true professional food waitress, held jobs at the Flamingo, International, and the Hilton Hotels. She was assigned to the VIP station where she had the opportunity to meet many celebrities, and notorious, prominent people.

Family and friends were by far the most important people in Ginny’s life. In her earlier years, she loved hosting parties in their home for family and friends, bowling, and cake decorating. She enjoyed traveling and visited most of the United States including Alaska, Hawaii, and the countries of Canada and Mexico. In her later years, Ginny became a dedicated genealogist, enjoyed crafts, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and playing video poker.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert, sisters Luella, Marie, Geraldine, and Georgia, and brother “Pat” Earl Stuart, stepson Robert Gray Jr., granddaughter Beverly Gray, and grandson Michael Tafralian.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Dempsey, Carol Houghland, Paul Scobee, Dale Gray (Carolyn), Kathleen Dawson, and Rebecca Rebentisch (Martin), 32 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren, brother William Wilder (Loretta), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.

We are all grateful for her love, laughter, and words of wisdom and many special memories she shared with all that knew her.

Our family would like to thank her caregivers, PJ, Christine, Angela, Esther, and Allen and Atrium Hospice team for their love and dedication to Miss Ginny in her last months. She loved all of you and treasured you as newfound friends.
