CAPT. VAUGHAN CANNON SR. U.S. ARMY, Retired Vaughan M. Cannon Sr., 91, of Las Vegas, passed away April 18, 2011. He was born June 24, 1919, in Logan, Utah, and resided in Nevada for 63 years. Vaughan was an army brat and oldest child of four. He obtained a double bachelors degree in mathematics and English in his home state of Utah. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and served in both World War II and the Korea War. He married the "Woman of his Dreams" Marion Young, and had three children with her before her untimely death in 1960. He never remarried. Vaughan worked for, ran and built the Las Vegas division of YESCO from the 1950's-1970's, to the success it is today. He loved his family dearly and took every opportunity he could to be involved in the lives of his siblings and their family; his children, Vaughan Jr. and Martha/Marina and grandchildren, Vaughan IV, Jason and Damon Jaeger. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, working out, health and nutrition. He was elated that he got to meet and know his great-grandchildren. He will be missed more than words can convey. Vaughan was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; his two sons, Vaughan Jr. and Bruce; and his daughter, Martha/Marina; also his brother, Dale; and sister, Elaine. Vaughan is survived by his lovely daughter-in-law, Patti; and his three grandsons, Vaughan IV, Jason Jaeger and Damon Jaeger. There will be a family viewing at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5 at Palm Mortuary on N. Jones and the 215 freeway. Immediately following there will be a "Celebration of Vaughan's Life" at the residence of his second grandson, Jason O. Jaeger. Please call 702-591-6181, to indicate if you'd like to attend.
