The most loving husband to his wife and Tweety of 38 years, Louise; the best father there ever was to Terri, Jeff and Brett; the greatest Papa to Vanessa and Brittney; and best ever great Papa to Brena.
Tom was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 24, 1935 to Issac and Clara Moore. He graduated high school in Salt Lake City and joined the Air Force to support his country in 1954.
After his military service, Tom went back home to Salt Lake City for a short time then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he opened and began his family owned construction company.
Tom met the love of his life, Louise, in the early 70's and began "courtin" her in 1978. In 1980, Louise became his wife and Tweety. Louise affectionately called Tom her Sweety and their fairytale began.
Tom and Louise shared a lifetime of happiness and love together. They created a beautiful family and loving home. They spent many years sitting on their patio watching the sunset listening to music, cuttin’ a rug and just spending time together…their lives, together for eternity.
They worked together for years side-by-side in their business enjoying the hard work of their successful man and wife team. Tom retired in 2009 and spent the last several years relaxing, fishing and watching TV.
Tom and Louise had the absolute delight in playing daycare for their great-granddaughter Brena when she started kindergarten. Papa couldn't wait for his "little Toad" to get to the house each morning. He loved to spend time with her for hours on end, teaching her to play chess, playing games, playing cards, playing dress up, whatever Brena’s little heart desired, was Papa’s wish. His eyes would light up when she walked into the room. Brena was and always will be his “little Toad”, his little sweetheart.
Tom’s granddaughters, Vanessa and Brittney, were the light of his eyes. For in his eyes they could do no wrong. He would always say, "Whatever the girls want". He watched "his girls" grow up and was always so proud of them. He truly loved them and always cared about what was happening in their lives. He was always proud of "his" young ladies and all of the accomplishments they made in their lives. Papa taught "his girls" many things for which they will never forget.
Dad loved to play golf, go fishing, boating, camping, going to the track and bettin' the nags for which he would study the "form" like no other. He enjoyed Keno and Craps back in the day and was lucky enough to hit a few "wins" in his time. Of course, his favorite was always golf and fishing. He would walk around the office and at home with a putter in his hand practicing his short shots. We were forever tripping over golf balls and putters. He loved the game and was known for a great round with his Golfin’ Buddies. Back in those days it was golf on Fridays and fishin’ on Sundays. He was known to sneak into Big 5 to get a secret fishing lure and then would show it off at the river. And although he was a champ at catching big stripers back in the olden days, he could lose a stringer full of trout on many fishing trips.
He would tease the boys about the "girls", which he referred to as "tomatoes", and would tease the girls about the boys that he referred to as "clowns”…always with such love.
There aren't enough words to describe what a wonderful, loving, gentle kind soul my Dad was. He was a man of few words, but those words stuck in your head forever, to never be forgotten.
His smile, his laugh, his hugs and kisses on the cheeks will always be treasured.
Tom is survived by his wife and Tweety, Louise; daughter Treasa (Terri) Winkler; granddaughters Vanessa (Jeff) Winkler and Brittney (Brad) Winkler; and great-granddaughter Brena Marie; brother Dave (Anita) Moore; niece Lezlie (Bill) Sato; brothers-in-law Walter Stephens and Ronnie (Gayle) Stephens; and many other nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in Heaven by his mother and father Issac and Clara Moore; brother Leo and wife Nanci Moore; sister Clara Waters and husband LaVar Waters; nieces Cindy and Trisha Moore; father- and mother-in-law Bill and Laura Stephens; and his sons Brett Moore and Jeff Moore.
Dad, our hearts are forever broken, the pain and loss of your beautiful loving, kind heart, tender hand and gentle kisses will be forever missed. Our heart hurts without you and always will.
But we feel blessed knowing that Jeff took your hand and said, “Come With Me” and walked beside you into the gates of Heaven.
If I could just have one more hug, one more kiss, one more smile.
I love you,
Your Daughter, Squirrel
