One of my memories of Aunty Sonia is that sh6 would always give me some advise about staying out of trouble & quoting bible scriptures. But the first time I got to meet her I was a little boy, she was always very nice yet I also got to see her not so good side a little bit. Yet she's the kimd.of person that speaks her mind & sets you straight no matter who you are. Aunty Sonia, may you rest in peace as you're reunited with your daughter Monica, your grandson Eddie Jr. & the rest of the family

One of my favorite memories of Aunt Sonia is from a summer in high school, when she became my first gym buddy. She’d pick me up in the mornings for step aerobics at Bally’s Total Fitness. We shared a similar body shape, and I think she wanted me to feel more comfortable in my body and in fitness spaces.

Looking back, I think that time planted a seed that’s grown into my own path—creating space for others to feel seen and welcome in movement communities.

Thank you, Aunt Sonia, for those early mornings and for walking that path with me. You are deeply loved and remembered.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Sonia! Heartbreaking 💔 She and I worked side by side in the Intensive Care Unit of NYU Langone Hospital.  Sonia had a sweet personality, a dedicated nurse and a sincere friend!  She will be missed dearly!

A sad moment for the family. Death is something one does not cope with easily but at the same time, we have to understand that God giveth and he also taketh nor do we question him. May you fly high with the Angels Mother. May the good Lord in his infinite wisdom welcomes you into paradise. May the light of the countenance of his face shines upon you.

Sending love and condolences from Niece Pam and family across the pond in England and representing the love of  brother Spencer and sister-in-law Monica in St Lucia, who sadly can't be with you all to say a final goodbye to their little Sis.
    I first met Auntie Sonia when I made my first solo trip to the Big Apple many decades ago. Auntie welcomed me with love and warmth even though she'd never met me before. 
    I was one of her big brothers' daughters and so she showed me love and made me part of her family. I  stayed over for a couple of days, enjoying her warm, fun-loving hospitality.    
    One thing I always remembered about Auntie Sonia was her big smile, her big laugh and her even bigger heart. May she rest in peace

I’ll never forget the time Aunty Sonia asked me to paint her house. We agreed on a price, and I worked hard to get it done. But when I finished, she looked at me and said, “Boy, I’m your aunty and your godmother—why should I pay you to work for me?” That was just her sense of humor—sharp, playful, and always full of love. In the end, she did pay me, but not without making me laugh first.

Aunty Sonia was someone I could always count on. No matter what I was going through, she would listen, offer advice, and always keep it real with me. Her honesty, warmth, and support meant the world.

Some of my favorite memories are of us dancing together at parties. She loved it when I danced with her, and I can still hear her laughter and see that unforgettable smile. Being around her made me feel appreciated and seen. These are the moments I’ll carry with me, her laugh, the love, and the way she always made everything feel just a little bit better.

The few times I needed to have a serious conversation with Auntie Sonia, she was always straightforward—just like myself. We shared the same sign, born in the same month, and I appreciated her honesty and strength. You could always count on her to tell it like it is, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Aunty I hope you’re in a better place now, surrounded by the love of Mom, Pop, Auntie Maureen, Uncle Clive, Uncle Franklin,  Monica, and Uncle Simon. Rest peacefully, Auntie Sonia—you will be truly missed but never forgotten.
