Shirley Jo Hoff, 68, of Las Vegas, passed away on January 24th following complications from lung cancer, with her loved ones by her side. She is survived by her brother, David Ward, daughter Jennifer Douglas, son John B. Hoff, and four grandchildren: Harrison Douglas, Jude Hoff, Vivian Douglas, and John K. Hoff. She was born on March 7, 1947 in Chicago to Elden & Florence Ward and spent most of her childhood in North Platte, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968 where she belonged to the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She taught school in Omaha for two years before becoming a flight attendant for United Airlines in 1970; flying for them until 2012. She spent her retirement years actively devoted to Bible Study Fellowship, the Clipped Wings Alumni (group of retired flight attendants), and the Las Vegas Nebraskans (alumni group). She had an obsession with needlepoint and enjoyed reading, traveling to see the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, Bible Study, taking care of her many pets, and spoiling her children & grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Hope Life Center, 850 E. Cactus Aveon Saturday, January 30th from 12-2. Those wanting to honor her may make a donation in her name to one of the following charities: the Hope Life Center, St. Jude, or the Humane Society.
