Sheila Mae Levy (nee Schero), age 84, passed away on January 8, 2023 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, raised her family in Glenwood, Illinois, and enjoyed her “golden years” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sheila was the youngest child of Harry and Irene Schero and the baby sister to Marv Schero, Beverly Rosenthal, and Fern Moran.
Sheila lovingly raised her family with the “love-of-her-life” and best friend, David Levy. They married on her 21st birthday and didn’t stop holding hands until David passed away in 2018. Her children Deborah Kral (Ervin), Mark Levy (Jovanna), and Daniel Levy (Laura) all inherited some of Sheila’s many gifts. She gave Debbie her strong love of family, Mark received her ability to make friends with anyone, and Dan received her impulsiveness and childlike nature.
Sheila was “Nana” to five grandchildren who she loved almost as much as David and seemingly more than her own children: Ethan Kral (Jennifer Jones), Rachael Kral (Sam Murray), Hannah Levy (Jericho Rapp), Nolan Levy (Caroline Field), and Caden Levy (Buddy, the dog). Her grandchildren were the source of immeasurable joy and they enjoyed laughing with her, near her, and at her their entire lives. Her great-grandchild, Kennedy Jones-Kral, was the sweet cherry on top. As a person who always looked at life with childlike wonder, “GG” and Kennedy saw eye-to-eye on most everything. Sheila was “Aunt Sheila” to many nieces and nephews who also enjoyed laughing with her, near her, and at her their entire lives.
Always quick to make friends, Sheila enjoyed wonderful friendships on Terrace Drive in Glenwood and with the friends she met through the Westside Newcomers group in Las Vegas. Sheila was a loyal friend, an exuberant bridge and mahjong player, and a wonderful conversationalist/polite-gossiper. She was always up for anything, which led David to do more in life than he would ever have dreamed of. Sheila loved to travel, but also loved being home with her family – waiting on their every perceived need.
A private Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, for both Sheila and David. Sheila’s family truly appreciates the tremendous love and support they have received during this difficult time. Please keep Sheila in your hearts and prayers, and, when you think of her, we hope you laugh.
