Sharon Lee Goldman

Sharon was born in Denver, Colorado. Sharon's father would make false teeth in his private lab. As a youth, Sharon would take the public transit buses and deliver the teeth her father had made to their recipients all the while keeping it a secret that her father had made them and owned the lab where they were made.

By the time she was 18 years old, she moved to New York and was married.

While in New York, Sharon had a beautiful daughter, Deborah.

After living in New York, she also lived in Denver and North Carolina, and finally settled in Las Vegas.

As time went on, Sharon worked for Zale's in Las Vegas at a time when Zale’s would use their employees as "Walking Billboard's" letting them wear jewelry from the store throughout the day. Sharon had no idea that she was wearing millions of dollars of jewelry. She knew it looked pretty and sparked a lot. It was here that she learned about wearing quality instead of quantity of valuable stones.

Sharon gave birth to a wonderful son, David while in Las Vegas. Sharon always kept the connection with family in Las Vegas. When her children were small, Sharon took David and Deborah to lunch and then to her father’s house to swim in the pool and enjoy family gatherings. All the while being unable to swim herself.

While living in Las Vegas, Sharon worked as a Key Punch Operator for Palm Mortuary way back in time when Palm processed payroll using IBM cards for many of the casinos in Southern Nevada. Sharon processed payroll for employees at the Landmark, Sahara and many other casinos in Las Vegas. She also moved to work directly for the Landmark Hotel and then the Sahara hotel doing keypunch work, While at the Sahara, Sharon reinvented herself to be warehouse staff then moving to secretary duties. Sharon moved to a job working directly for REECO, EG&G, and then Bechtel Nevada as a clerk then taking on professional secretary duties.

There are fond memories of Sharon and her internal strength along with her ingenuity and her absolute love and dedication to her children and family. A Eshet Chayil -- A Woman of Valor in every way.

Holidays and family celebrations were of the utmost importance to Sharon. Sharon always made special birthday cakes and holiday food for every holiday. She would plan to be wherever a family member would be to provide birthday cake and cards no matter where they tried to hide.

Holidays resulted in a special tablecloth or runner that she had made with invitations to everyone to come and celebrate. This included inviting service men from Nellis Air force base to join the family for Passover activities.

Halloween always resulted in a new costume for her and the dogs.

Sharon taught herself to sew which later became a gift she could share, volunteering to teach others how to sew. Sharon made many matching shirts for herself and Steven to wear for the holiday season. Sharon also made vests and matching bags for Deborah to wear. Many of her sewing students did not know how to read a ruler or understand the measuring units used in patterns. She would get on the floor with students to show them how to spread out material and measure correctly as needed for patterns. Sharon found creative ways of teaching them how to measure and create their sewing projects. Sharon loved sewing and more so loved giving of her time to teach others.

Sharon was a woman who would reinvent herself several times to ensure her family and children had what they needed. She studied and earned her Real Estate License and became a Realtor for more than 30 years.

Sharon became involved in Amateur (Ham) Radio earning her General license. Sharon became an instructor and Volunteer Examiner (VE) providing classes and performing test sessions of the Federal Exam so others could earn their Ham Amateur Radio license. Sharon was a member of the Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT). The people in this organization have been trained to immediately go into action to help neighbors and neighborhoods survive an emergency situation where government services are not available, such as flooding, power outage, or earthquake. CERT volunteers provide medical, firefighting, and communication assistance until formal services are restored.

Sharon also sold Avon and became a Tri-Chem Fabric Painting Expert.

Sharon and Steven met in Las Vegas at the Jewish singles group sponsored by Temple Beth Shalom when the synagogue was located on Oakey Blvd in Las Vegas They both met while wanting to serve on the Southern Nevada Singles Committee organized to bring together the singles groups in Southern Nevada for social occasions.

Sharon and Steven enjoyed a 5-year courtship and had to marry because Sharon's dog Precious fell in love with Steven. They had to wait six months after marriage for Steven to adopt Deborah and David. All of them forged ahead marking the calendar days until adoption day could happen. They continue to share 36 more years of love together.

Sharon was blessed to have the best of care provided to her by her loving husband and daughter. They ensured she had everything she needed or wanted through their 36-year marriage and continued throughout her illness lasting many years.

She had the benefit of peacefully passing at home with her husband, daughter, and doggies at her bedside.
