Ronald George Schmidt, 78, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on September 7, 2014, at his home of lung cancer. He was born on May 26, 1936, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to George and Gladys Schmidt. He found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 20 when he married Betty Frances (Elks) Schmidt of Grimesland, North Carolina. Ron attended Mary D. Bradford High School. In 1954 he joined the Army serving in the 82nd airborne as a medic. He retired from Eaton Dynamatic as Plant Superintendent. Ron was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. No matter what you needed, Ron was there for you. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Schmidt; sister, Beverly Reid and his wife, Betty. He is survived by his loving children, daughters, Vivian Frances (Dean) Mills and Donna Marie (Michael) Stauch; son, Gene Fredrick (Mary) Schmidt; grandchildren, Suzanne, Brandi, Andy, Ryan, Ben, Katie, and Lexi; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ethan and Evan; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
