Robert McClinton, Sr, lovingly known as “Pop” by his family, was born August 16, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois to R.D. McClinton and Viola McClinton. Robert had two siblings who preceded him in death, a sister Emma Sparks and a brother Archie McClinton. The family relocated to Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Robert enlisted and served in the United States Army at the age of 20, and was a soldier in WWII. Robert served from 1943 to 1945 and was honorably discharged, he was proud to serve his country.
After leaving the military Robert relocated to Los Angeles California where he met Rosa Lee Allen and they married on March 16, 1952. They were married for 62 years until Rosa’s death in 2014. The couple had three sons, Alonzo, Robert and Gregory.
Robert attended Jefferson High School in Los Angeles and completed his education in their night school program.
Robert was employed as a machinist and worked at Rheem Manufacturing for 30 years until the plant shut down. His remaining years of employment were at Robert Shaw Manufacturing until his retirement. Robert and Rosa relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in1990, where they lived out the rest of their lives.
Robert gave his life to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Spirit after joining Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California under Pastor Frederick K.C. Price, Sr. He continued his walk with God in Las Vegas and united with Remnant Ministries under Pastor Randall Cunningham. Robert was an active member until he could no longer physically attend due to his age and the Covid shut down.
Robert leaves to mourn him three sons Alonzo Clark, Jr of Los Angeles, California (Brenda), Robert McClinton, Jr of Henderson, Nevada (Juanita) and Gregory McClinton (who preceded him in death); three grandsons Trayvon, Gregory, Jr and Justin McClinton; three granddaughters Kristin, Adree and Tiffany (who preceded him in death); seven great grandchildren, one niece Rhonda Graves of Hampton, Virginia and a host of relatives and friends.
