A long time resident of Clark County (30 years), Richard (Rich) T. Romer gave up his battle with cancer on Sunday, June 17th. He died peacefully in his sleep and was surrounded by his family. He began his professional career in Public Works with the City of Scottsdale. From there, he went on to become the City Traffic Engineer for the city of Palm Springs, California. His hard work and dedication led him to the city of Las Vegas where he initiated and developed many major projects for Clark County and received numerous local, regional and national awards in transportation and pedestrian studies. He continued to achieve his goals as he began a second engineering career with Orth-Rodgers & Associates. There he continued to be extremely active in the professional development of staff, transportation engineering and served as International President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). He then went on to serve on the Professional Traffic Operation Engineers (PTOE) Board of Directors. Rich was a mentor and friend to many local and regional transportation engineers instilling the professionalism necessary for this field of work.
