Ray Llyndell Eicher, Jr, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on May 27, 2024. He was born August 12, 1933 in Monongahela, PA, the son of Ray L. Eicher (deceased) and Harriett Louise Cupp Horner (deceased).
Ray graduated from Somerset High School in PA, class of 1951 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1953-1956.
He married Adelle Darrough May 3, 1959 in Tonopah, NV. They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Ray is survived by his wife, Adelle, children, Rae Lynn Eicher, Ralph Eicher, and Karen Scheppmann (Curtis). Grandchildren, Elizabeth Massengale (Jason), Randi White, Brandon White, Heather Eicher, Meredith Thompson (Dustin), Halle Eicher (fiancee’, David Chavis), Brittany Sisson (Drew), and Jared Scheppmann (Stefani). Great-grandchildren, Jack (Maliah), Abigail (Jaylin), Isaac, Maddox, Blaine, LillyAnna, Maverick, Colton, Barrett, Rhett, Truett, and Great-great grandchildren, Freya and Asher, and his sister, Barbara Burdeau.
Ray was a USMC Sergeant, Police Officer with NLV Police, Retail Manager, Anderson Dairy (retired), Field Service Manager, Holman Security (retired), and a Crossing Guard for over 20 years. Also, member of Southern Nevada Officials Association, Lake Mead Boat Owners Association (past President), instructor for AARP, and column writer with the Las Vegas Sun, “Boating With Ray”. He was a volunteer at Opportunity Village, Brown Bag, Nevada Highway Clean-up, and Super Summer Theatre where he volunteered for over 30 years as well as being on the general board and the emeritus board.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
