Phil "Papa" Carr was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. His parents were Glenn and Glady Carr. Phil was raised in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was brought up to be self-confident and dependable. These were traits that would serve him well throughout his life. Phil was raised with three siblings. He had two younger brothers and one younger sister. On August 1, 1987 Phil exchanged wedding vows with Karen Conat in the comfort of their own home in El Toro, California currently known as Lake Forest. Compassionate and devoted to Karen, Phil held endearing, traditional values about marriage and family life. Phil was blessed with two sons and two step-daughters, Jeffrey, Michael, Jennifer, and Stacy. They were also blessed with twelve grandchildren, Tabatha, Jake, Darion, Beringer, Paige, Breanna, Grace, Jeffrey, Emma, Molly, Addison, and Alexia. Phil greatly enjoyed what he did for a living. His primary occupation was a contract specialist. He was employed by BDM Corp, Tracor Flight Systems, Bechtel, and NS Tech. Phil worked hard to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Phil was an Air Force Veteran. He was stationed in Thailand along with many other US bases, ultimately retiring from Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Phil was also active during the Vietnam war. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Captain. After surviving a major heart attack and subsequent open heart surgery Phil welcomed retirement in 2012, at which point he was more than ready to enjoy a new chapter. Phil "Papa" Carr passed away on November 29, 2012 at Centennial Hills Hospital, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Karen, two sons, Jeffrey and Michael, step-daughters Jennifer and Stacy, as well as 11 grandchildren. Phil was predeceased by his granddaughter Tabatha in December 2011. Services were held August 16, 2013 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Phil was laid to rest in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Boulder City, Nevada.
