Peter A. Leggiero

Peter A. Leggiero, 84, passed away on April 12th, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada with his family by his side. Born on March 21st, 1937 in Amsterdam, New York to Michael and Louise Leggiero, Peter was the oldest of six children. He enjoyed New York Yankees baseball, New York Giants football, boxing and bocce. As a young boy, he got to meet New York Yankee great Yogi Berra through his uncle, George Sandy. He met the love of his life, Helen Andrzejewski, while she was in high school. After a short stint in the U.S. Army (1955 – 1957), he and Helen were married on February 7th, 1960. They raised three children, George, Paula and Stacy. In New York, Peter held jobs as a mechanic, Mobil station owner and bar owner. Through the success of his Mobil stations, he was fortunate to meet New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, Los Angeles Lakers coach Pat Riley, and President Ronald Reagan. While a bar owner, he was introduced to a young Mike Tyson before he became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time. In 1993, Peter and Helen moved to Las Vegas to be closer to their daughters. Peter and Helen co-owned a mini storage facility and later Peter drove a shuttle bus for Station Casinos until he finally retired in 2013. Peter always loved competing, whether it be baseball, bowling, darts, or most of all bocce. Spanning over 65 years, he was a bocce champion many times over playing with his family and friends and sharing his love of the game. Peter lived a long and wonderful life and is survived by his wife, Helen; son, George Leggiero of Amsterdam, NY; daughter and son in law, Paula and William Loos of Las Vegas, NV; daughter and late son in law, Stacy and Vincent Calogero of Las Vegas, NV; and three granddaughters, Kaylie Calogero, Marissa Loos and Miranda Loos. He is also survived by four brothers, sister, and several nieces and nephews.
