U.S. Navy, Retired Norman Magdefrau, 76, a resident of Henderson, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013. He was born July 7, 1936, to Lois and Frank Magdefrau, in Burlington, Iowa. Norman spent his youth at Yarmouth, Iowa, and graduated from high school there. In April 1954, Norman enlisted in the Naval Reserve and served until 1978, when he retired as chief yeoman. Norman married the love of his life, Pauline Keitzer Sept. 9, 1956. While Norman had many interests, he especially enjoyed playing golf with his friends and loved the competition it provided. He also loved spending time solving Sudoku puzzles, playing cribbage with friends and playing pinochle at the community center. Norman was happiest spending time with family and he enjoyed watching his two children, David and Jeannie, become successful business people in their careers. Norman is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Pauline; their son, David, his wife, Gloria, and their daughter, Jessica, and their daughter, Jeannie. Norman is also survived by two brothers, Allen (Joyce) of Burlington, and Jerry (Carol) of Springdale, Ark.; and sister, Sue (Richard) of Yarmouth. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral services and burial will be at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Southern Nevada Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
