Beloved Natividad “Nati” Rivera Solórzano was called by our Lord while she slept peacefully on Sunday, the 25th of June, 2023. Born in Arañas Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico on Christmas Day 1942 to Policarrpio Rivera and Otilla Favela.
Nati is survived by by her 3 children, Lupe (Jimmy), Marina, and Andy (Michael); grandchildren: Adam (Rachel), Max (Gianna), Christian (Camryn), Julie and Faith; great-grandchildren: River, Rain, Jude, and Max Jr; also being survived by her sister, Maria de los Anjeles Rivera. She is predeceased by her dear husband of over 50 years, Andrés Luna Solórzano.
While she worked in the hotel industry, she was mainly a homemaker to her children and her grandchildren. Natividad was a constant figure in her grandchildren’s daily lives, always making sure that they were more than well-fed, attempting to teach her resistant grandchildren Spanish, teaching her granddaughters arts such as embroidering, crocheting, and sewing, and personally tailoring clothes for special occasions. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family, tending to her garden, and caring for her many birds, including parakeets, pigeons, chickens- Fefe and Raquel-, and emerald green Macaw- Pancho. During the holidays, she made tamales and empanadas by the truckload, and on cold rainy days, arroz con leche. A lover of all things spicy, there was never a time where she left the house without a jalapeño, pairing it especially with her mayo-free Whoppers from Burger King. At bedtime, she would do her word search while listening to her telenovelas.
She was intensely devoted to her family, and fiercely protective of those that she loved. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved & knew her. We all felt her love and learned from her life experiences.
