Nancy Lee Mathews (Millner) was born August 05, 1950 in Overton, Texas to Roosevelt Millner and Irene Morris White who proceeded her in death. Mother moved to Las Vegas, Nevada as a child in 1955 with her father. She departed this life Monday June 26, 2023. Mother lived a full productive God-fearing life; she was a woman of excellence serving the kingdom of God in ministry.
Mother was a devoted Christian, she loved sharing the gospel and God’s goodness to others! Her faith never wavered! As such, she served as the District Missionary of Southern California 4th Jurisdiction! She also served as First Lady at Barstow House of Bread with her husband Pastor Walter Mathews. She had a passion for the women’s ministry, she coordinated and hosted several conferences throughout her years as the District Missionary of Southern California. Mother adored serving the people of God, the homeless, and all mankind in her walk with God. She cherished her devotion for God and lived a righteous life. After God, her family was most important to her, she was a true inspiration to her children, grand and great-grand children alike. Each one of us had a special place in her heart! Mother obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Riverside Baptist College. Mother’s passion was giving and caring for others; she devoted herself for over 45 years in nursing. During her career she worked as a critical care nurse, cardiac care nurse, nursing instructor at a community college in California, and house supervisor until retirement in 2020 from Barstow Community Hospital! She received several awards, accolades and distinguished titles in the work force and church community.
Mother was also proceeded in death by her siblings, Billy Jean Johnson (sister), Mary “Cookie” Smith, and brothers Calvin Millner, Norris White, Earnest White. Mother is survived by her husband Walter Mathews, her mother Christine Millner, her children, Roleana Winbush, Stacey Barber (Steven), Christi Thompson (James), Edward Hall Millner (Dominque), Nayeskea Sherrie Hall. Three God children, Remekia “Cheese” Caldwell, Deshawn Hines, and Caryn Denson. Siblings, Zerettia McGriff, Cynthia Miller, Queenester Moore, Quanzala Green, Victor Miller, and Jermain Millner. She has a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in which she shared a unique bond with each one of them. Lastly, but not least, she is survived by a host of aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be truly missed by many.
A visitation for Nancy will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A committal service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Downtown Cemetery, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
