Michael Joseph Varhola, 77, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Spring Valley Hospital. Michael was born June 27, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary (Balukin) Varhola. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joyce R. (McDivitt) Varhola, daughter Michelle Varhola of Las Vegas, brother Kenneth (Barbara) Varhola of Mentor, OH, niece Jennifer (Craig Wightman) Varhola of Sheffield Village, OH, sisters-in-law Sharen McDivitt of Mentor, OH, and Jimmietta Lanfrankie of Slickville, PA, and brother-in-law Kerry (Evangeline) McDivitt of Las Vegas.
Michael served in the United States Army in Germany for 3 years. He earned a B. S. in Accounting from Cleveland State and worked at Circus Circus for 23 years as chief accountant. Michael was a good baseball player and an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians. For several years he coached the Circus Circus softball team. Michael enjoyed music, history, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and relaxing with the family cats.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Palm Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society in Michael's name.
