Melvin Anderson was born on April 11, 1939 at The California Hospital in Los Angeles, California. His parents were Bruce & Ruth Anderson. Mel was raised by his mother and step father in Southern California, Los Angeles County. Mel was raised with two younger brothers Wayne and Bruce with whom he always felt responsible for their well being even throughout adulthood. Mel's most recent marriage was on July 11, 1981. Mel exchanged wedding vows with Judith Linda Karl, daughter of Harry Karl at the Superior Court of Los Angeles, California. Mel was blessed with six children; four daughters Tammy, Tracy, Teresa and Melissa; and two sons Brad and Blake. He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Christina, Sean, Jessica, Trenton, Tyler, Kyle, Joshua, Sierra, Brian and Darragh also two great grandchildren, Deven and Christian. Mel's primary occupation was a bartender and previously a card dealer. He was employed for the Luxor for twenty-two years. Mel was a team player who certainly lived out the motto of “give me a job, and I will get it done.” Surrounded by his daughter Melissa and dear friend Helen, Mel passed away on December 2, 2012 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mel fought a two year battle against three different types of cancer. He is survived by his children; Tamara, Tracy, Brad, Blake and Melissa; and his grandchildren Christina, Sean, Jessica, Trenton, Tyler, Joshua, Sierra and Darragh and Brian. A Memorial gathering was held at the Luxor meeting room Nile Chamber "C" in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 17, 2012 from 6:00-10:00 pm. Mel was then be laid to rest with his wife Judith at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California on January 11, 2012. He will be sorely missed by many.
