Mary Floyd Reed October 6, 1927 - September 3, 2015 Mary Floyd Reed, age 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 3, 2015 at Vintage Park Memory Care Center in Las Vegas Nevada. Mary was born in her home in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 1927 to Mary and Floyd Bowlds. She had an older sister, Betty and two younger brothers, Ray and Jim. She met her best friend and love of her life, Ed Reed, while she was still in high school. Shortly after graduating from St. Aquinas High School, Mary and Ed were married and continued their life-long journey together. Mary & Ed enjoyed family and friends and created a life filled with happiness, laughter and love while raising their family of nine children including Mary Kathleen, Patricia, Edward, James, William, Donna, Robert, Eileen and Cheryl. Mary was an amazing woman who always put everyone first. She took pride in her family and instilled harmony, trust and respect amongst her children. She gave them unconditional love and support to enrich their lives. When their last child left home Mary and Ed fulfilled their retirement dream of moving to sunny Orlando, Florida. Mary's oldest daughter, Kathy, her husband Bernie and their family were already Florida residents. They greatly enjoyed over ten years of retirement life until Ed's eventual passing in 2008. Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about one year later. She move to Las Vegas, Nevada in June 2012, where four of her children lived. The additional help made sense due to her deteriorating condition. Mary confronted her dementia as she did life. Her unbelievable attitude, her laughter and her love of life showed her family how to live and die with no regrets. Although at the end she lost her memory, our memory of her will last forever. She is survived by her children: Mary Kathleen (Bernie) Schuman, Patricia Tracy, Edward (Barbara) Reed, James (Bee) Reed, William Reed (fiance Kathy), Donna (Steve) Skiniotes, Robert (Theresa) Reed, Eileen (Mark) Geisler, Cheryl (Jeff) Lockard; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
