Manuel began his service to his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, then as a Green Beret in the Special Forces, and culminating his distinguished 24-year Army career educating the next generation of young soldiers as their R.O.T.C. Professor of Military Science. He followed with a 35-year second career, continuing his life of service, in real estate. Manuel and his wife, Deborah, own Las Vegas Homes Network.
He loved flying his airplane. He loved his days on the lake in his boat. And above all else, he loved his wife and his family.
Manuel is survived by his wife of 20 years, Deborah Summitt Graham; brothers, Benny Gonzales (wife, Drucilla) and Max Sanchez (wife, Edie); sister, Nancy C. De Baca (husband Pete); daughters, Yvonne Gonzales, Myra Gonzales, Anna Graham and bonus daughter, Leila Cruz (husband Joseph Ong); sons, Juren "Mike" Gonzales (wife, Brittney), Shawn Moore (wife, Laurie) and bonus son, Tyler Margritz; granddaughters, Amanda Gonzales, Samantha Campos, Evonnie Carpentier (husband, Coby), Sonya Vasquez (husband, Cody), Teresa Gonzales-Nava (husband, Claudio), Ashley Moore, Emily Moore, Allison Moore, Abigail Moore, Cailea Gonzales, Marlee Conway, Xaeta Conway and Luna Jade Rose; grandsons, Leo Campos, Nicholas Moore, Conner Gonzales, Matthew Veliz and Bentley Graham. He was also blessed and survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and far too many nieces and nephews to count.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Maldonado; father, Benny Gonzales and son, Andres "Andy" Gonzales.
A committal service for Manuel will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 10:40 AM at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
