Lawrence was born to Floyd Edward Stamper and Eugenia Florence “Jean” Ensign on July 11, 1933, in Weiser, Idaho, and graduated from Weiser High school on the 23rd of May 1951. Larry served ten years in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He retired at the age of 62, from Service Foundry, New Orleans, LA. He married Norma Jean House on January 10, 1953, in New Orleans, LA. Lawrence authored and published a book early this year, called Idaho Reb.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, reading, writing stories, and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Edward Stamper; and a sister Phyliss Jean Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Norma Jean House of Ponchatoula, LA; his son Larry David Stamper (Jill) of North Las Vegas, NV; three daughters Barbara Lynn Blanchard; Carol Elaine Denny (Ron); and Sherry Renee Markey all of Ponchatoula, LA; his grandchildren Lt. Col. Jeffery Andrieu (Annese), Kathryn Cavalier (Nicholas), Jacqueline "Jackie" Andrieu, Bridget Alford (Tim), Ross Stamper, Nicole Arany (Ladis), Taylor Vining, Ollie Vining, Cade Sasser, and Jake Sasser; and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved dog; Ruby who never left his side.
