Katherine Cook

Katherine Cook, 77, of Las Vegas, Nevada, went to Heaven on October 12, 2021 at Henderson Hospital after a bravely fought battle with breast cancer. She was born on March 19, 1944 in Woodville, MS to Louis and Dorothy Dunbar.

Katherine graduated from Vidalia High School.

Katherine married and divorced Marion Wood. She soon relocated to California where she met her life-long partner and soulmate, Felix Cook.

Katherine worked for Safeway Store Inc. and retired after 20 years of service. She and Felix opened a restaurant apply named “The Soul Kitchen” in East Palo Alto, California, which they later relocated to Las Vegas and changed the name to “Kathy’s Southern Cooking”.

During this time, Katherine received many “Best of” awards and was listed in the unofficial guide to Las Vegas. She was also Zagat rated with 4stars. With the many accolades she held, she also was a celebrity chef.

Katherine was always there to encourage and help where she could.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 4:30 – 6:30pm with a funeral service from 6:30 – 7:30pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary followed by a repast at Silver Springs Rec Center, 1951 Silver Springs Ave, Henderson, NV 89074…(702) 267-5720.
