John Vincent is a man of many and strong opinions willing, nay eager to comment, discuss or argue upon almost any topic, at any time. Which made him a most fascinating and stimulating individual.

He enjoyed coming into my office to discuss issues ranging from supervision to religion, from the technical to the interpersonal. He was a voracious reader who took delight in both teaching and debating the issues the day. No subject was too complex for John not to have an opinion upon.

Among his subordinates he engendered a strong sense of emotional loyalty. The inspectors who worked for John were very devoted to him expressing support and indeed warm affection for him as both a supervisor and a friend. Their respect is a tribute to him and a substantial part of his legacy

His relationship with his devoted partner, Pat, is also a reflection of the man. Theirs's was a strong, mature, supportive relationship starting in 1980, a relationship that was unabated by the trials and tribulations of an interesting life.

Our love, affection and support go out to Pat who will sorely missed not only John's love and compassion but the intellectual discourse which kept the relationship always fresh and exciting.
Mark Twain was an individual John strongly admired. They shared a similar wit and wisdom and in Mr. Twain's words comes a parting thought from John.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Patricia and the rest of the family at this sad time.  We will not forget John or his big smile.  He was a great friend and will truly be missed.

In memory of John Vincent it was a pleasure to have known both you and Patricia the fun and laughter we shared. A toss to the champagne toss as we shared  bubbles in Frankfort, IL, May the sunshine shine upon you and the wind stay at your back and the love shine through as you watch over your family from above. You will be missed but you left behind special memories as you touch everyone's life in a special way. 
My condolences to your family and my thoughts and prays are with them all as they work through the loss of a special man and begin to move forward holding on to special memories to ease the pain.
