John Frederick Stein

John Frederick Stein, 77, of Las Vegas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, June 10, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Koa Uchiumi, children, John Eric (Lisa) Stein of Mont Alto, PA, Wendy Stein of Salt Lake City, UT and Dieter Stein of The Netherlands, step children Kouki, Yuri (Yudai) and Yuki of Japan, granddaughter, Mirya Stein, step grandchildren Renmi and Iori, siblings, James Stein of Minneapolis, MN and Nancy Frazer of Tucson, AZ.

John was born the third youngest of four children to Fred and Doris Stein on April 19, 1946 in Middletown, Ohio. He graduated college from Otterbein University before becoming an officer and pilot in the U.S. Navy. Upon leaving the U.S. Navy, John embarked on a long career in aviation as a pilot. He was a commercial airline pilot, corporate pilot and a government contract pilot. In addition to aviation, John was a police officer, test proctor and bus driver. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, operating HAM radios and traveling with his friends and family.

A viewing will be held from 5-8pm followed by a memorial service from 8-9pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2023 at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada.
