John “Jack” Breen, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born October 24, 1920 in Metuchen, New Jersey. He was raised in Metuchen and was one of 5 children. He served proudly in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Force as a flight crew member and served in India, China and Burma. In 1953 he moved his family to St. Petersburg, Fl., and he retired from the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times in early 1980’s. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, of 70 years, brothers Frank and Vincent and his sister Mary. He is survived and will forever be remembered by his sister Ann of New Jersey; sons, Tim and wife Teresa of Las Vegas, NV., and Colin and wife Christine of Tampa FL.; grandchildren Jada and husband Sean Evans, Allison and husband Art Alegria, Michael, and Katie; great grandchildren Taylor, Jaden, Taya, Lorenzo and Zoe; and nieces and nephews. After the death of his wife in 2013, he moved to Las Vegas, NV., to live with his son and daughter-in-law Teresa. There he was surrounded and amused by the antics of two of his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Services were held in Las Vegas, NV. He was laid to rest with his wife a t the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. “Thanks dad, we’ll take it from here.”
