Joan Patricia (Pat) Talley was born February 13, 1942 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to James Warren Hibbitt and Beatrice Fuller.
She attended Catholic primary schools in Ypsilanti and was an active volunteer for numerous charitable causes in her community, to include sponsoring newly arrived immigrant children from Eastern Europe and volunteering as a hospital candy striper. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her father and stepmother (Evelyn McCoy Batiste), and spending time with numerous cousins and friends, often summering in Kansas and North Carolina.
As a high school debutante, she met Luddie Talley, a young Airman assigned to Willow Run Airbase in Ypsilanti, who became the love of her life and husband of 50 years until his passing in 2009. Together, Pat and Luddie raised four children as an Air Force Family, traveling the world to five states and multiple overseas locations before settling in Las Vegas 41 years ago.
She was renowned for her selflessness, sense of humor, and caring demeanor. She made strangers feel welcome and her positive energy was always uplifting. Pat considered being a wife and mother as her life’s calling and #1 priority. She was an active military spouse, taught catechism, supported PTA, girl scouts, and boy scouts. She was an avid supporter of her children’s school field trips, martial arts, swimming, ballet, tap dance lessons, and sporting events.
Through the years, her occupations included gift shop sales at the former International Hotel,
Avon, Fashion Fair, and Tupperware product sales, and physical security services. She was a fashion and makeup aficionado; enjoyed home decorating, reading novels, watching mystery movies, and gambling for fun at her favorite Casinos.
Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luddie; parents, James Hibbitt and Beatrice Fuller; and step parents, Evelyn and Roy Batiste. She is survived by her children, Gina, Michael (Lori), Christopher, and Lisa; grandchildren: Christina, Mia, and Maxwell; great grandchildren, Elijah, and Emma; brothers, Raphael, Gary, and Brian; brother-in-law, Eddie, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Joan Patricia Talley left an indelible mark on the world and made it a better place. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
