It is with deep sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Jewel Alice Brooks. Jewel lived 90 happy years. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but lived most of her life in Las Vegas, Nevada at the side of her beloved husband, Robert Lee Brooks. Together they traveled the world, with their two daughters frequently joining them, and eventually their two grandsons and sons-in-law joining in as well. They shared 50 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 1995. Through the years, Jewel accepted numerous fundraising leadership roles for nonprofits in Las Vegas including the Mesquite Club and the Assistance League of Las Vegas. Last year she was inducted into Cleveland Clinic’s 1921 Society. Jewel is survived by her two daughters, Robyne Brooks Townsend and Nevada Cook; grandsons Garrett Brooks Logan and Brooks W. Cook; and loving sons-in-law Senator Randolph Townsend and Arthur Cook. Because Jewel was devoted to animal rescue, in lieu of flowers, she has requested donations be made to the NSPCA, 4800 W Dewey Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada 89118. Services will be held at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Avenue at 12pm noon on Saturday, December 12th, 2015.
