TSGT. JEROME YUREK U.S. Air Force, Retired Jerome F. "Jerry" Yurek, 69, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at a local hospital. Jerry was born Oct. 22, 1944, in Pulaski, Wis., to Joseph and Mary Yurek. A proud and decorated veteran, Jerry served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 101st Air Borne Division. He later transferred to the U.S. Air Force serving his country for over 22 years. Upon retirement from military service, he was employed by the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino as a receiving supervisor. He was an avid Green Bay Packer's fan and loved his Milwaukee Brewers. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Yurek; mother, Mary Yurek; sister, Carol Pierret; and nephews, Joel Yurek, Daniel E. Veraghen and Daniel Yurek Jr. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Monica Yurek; grandchildren, Ariah, Keylee and Joey; 10 siblings, Joseph (Stephanie) Yurek of Oshkosh, Wis., Daniel (Darlene) Yurek of Green Bay, Wis., Rosemary (Roland) Pirlott of Green Bay, Lawrence (Mary Jo) Yurek of Abrams, Wis., Jean (Dan) Veraghen of Green Bay, Robert (Debbie) Yurek of Geneva, N.Y., Kenneth (Celeste) Yurek of Las Vegas, James Yurek of De Pere, Wis., Tina (Jack) Nagel of Green Bay, Lori Yurek (Scott Vander Sande) of Suamico, Wis; and by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, Roman Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89117. Burial at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
