Irwin Sidney Goldstein

Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carole; their son, Daniel (Linnea) Goldstein; their daughter, Kimberly (John) Zalewski, and his sister, Barbara Sherman. A dedicated public servant, Irwin served in the Air Force as a Sergeant from 1969 to 1972 and was a proud veteran. He graduated Southern Illinois University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and he earned a Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Central Michigan University during his time in the service. He later worked as an electrical engineer for prominent companies like Paslode, Motorola, Zenith, and Rauland-Borg. After retiring in 2004, Irwin moved to Las Vegas and continued to serve his community as a substitute teacher for 13 years. He found great joy in teaching special needs students with autism. Irwin was also a lifelong ham radio operator, known by his call sign K9AAD. He and Carole loved road trips and traveling on cruise ships, and together they visited all fifty states. Irwin enjoyed telling stories and jokes, meeting new people, and talking to hobbyists all over the world on his ham radios. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 9:20 AM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada. King David Memorial handled the arrangements.
