George Jackson Wilkes Jr.

Born on April 23, 1946, in Drexel Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Emilie Creveling Wilkes and George Jackson Wilkes.

In 1964 George graduated from York Suburban High School, York, PA where he excelled in athletics, most particularly, track and field. He went on to have a very successful career in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country proudly in Texas, Viet Nam, Spain, New York, Guam, and Virginia. He retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 20 years of service.

Many will remember George as a fun-loving guy. In his more vibrant years, George loved to entertain, always enjoyed being out on the golf course, and up to the end he was an avid baseball fan (Go Braves!).

George is survived by his wife Nancy Swindell Wilkes, a son William G. Wilkes, a daughter Jacqueline Wilkes Caruso, and grandchildren Thomas Dahlstrom and Jordyn Caruso. Also surviving are his sisters Donna Wilkes Burrus and Betsy Wilkes Buckingham, a brother Warren Wilkes and many nieces and nephews.
