George Gregory Thomas Jr.

George Thomas Jr., a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on September 10th, 2024. George was preceded in death by his parents, brother Oscar and eldest son, Adam. He is survived by his beloved son, Alec [Kristen] Thomas, grandchild, Sloane Thomas, and sister Monica [John] McKay who were the light of his life. George's unwavering love and support were felt by all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on his family and friends.

George found joy in giving back and helping those in need by volunteering with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and donating to those less fortunate. He was known for his immense empathy for others, generosity, light-hearted sense of humor, and love of family and friends. George brought laughter and joy to every gathering, leaving a trail of smiles in his wake. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

In addition to his commitment to family and faith, George was a successful business man who started in public service as the City of Zanesville’s finance director and then went on to run a small business in Las Vegas for many years, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. He was an avid golfer who loved spending time on the course, and his passion for music led him to collect records that filled his home with joy. He loved spending autumn Saturdays watching College Football and always found joy rooting for his alma mater, The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!). George will continue to be deeply loved by his family and friends and his vibrant spirit and passion will remain in our hearts forever.

A visitation for George will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A committal service will occur Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
