July 20, 1930 – July 10, 2023
On July 10, George Noble passed away peacefully at the home of his youngest son Keith Noble. George was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 20, 1930 to Irish immigrants, James and Grace (nee Rankin) Noble. George’s parents immigrated in March 1921 to Philadelphia with their 4 oldest children from Castlederg and what was then known as Binnawooda in current day Northern Ireland. The youngest of 8 children, George was born, raised and schooled in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. A follower of the Gospel, George was 17 when he made a vow to walk with God. Shortly thereafter, he started his career as a pressman for various newspapers starting with the Parade magazine in Philadelphia and ending with retirement as the pressroom foreman for the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ. Always working, he would also do extra fill-in work for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
During the Korean War (1950-1953), George took a break from his pressroom duties and served in the Army as a medic. It was during this time at one of his faith’s gospel meetings, George met his wife and lifelong partner Fay Smith. They were married in Anniston, AL on June 5th, 1954, celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary in June of this year.
George and Fay moved to New Jersey shortly after they married where they lived in Woodcrest, NJ. The couple were blessed with two children, Gary (Donna Francis) and Keith (Linda Reed) Noble. In 1974, they moved to the new development of Wexford East in Cherry Hill. They lived there until 2018 when they moved to Las Vegas, NV to live in the care of Keith and Linda.
George enjoyed reading the bible and the newspaper every day, going to Long Beach Island in the summer and tending to his lawn and outdoor plants. He also specialized in knife sharpening for several restaurants and delicatessens.
In addition to his parents James and Grace (nee Rankin) Noble, predeceasing George are his brothers Robert and William Noble, his sisters Martha Jane Vika, Cynthia Dornblaser, Mary Anderson, Rachael Heister, and Grace Noble.
In addition to his wife Fay and two sons Gary and Keith, George is survived by many nieces and nephews. He also has many cousins still living in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
A celebration of George’s life will be scheduled near New Jersey at a future date. For now, friends and family are invited to Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV on Friday 21, 2023 for a viewing and visitation from 3-5:00 pm followed by a service from 5-6:00 pm. A reception with lite refreshments will follow at the same location.
