In her early years, Flo attended St. Stephen CE Primary School and enjoyed tap dancing and even performing on stage as a young woman. At age 17 she met the love of her life, Lawrence (Wally) Cox, and they married on September 22, 1956.
Together, Flo and Wally raised a beautiful family with three daughters, two granddaughters and a great grandson. Florence was a loving wife, mother, a fabulous Grandma, and wonderful Great Grandma.
As a military spouse, Flo helped Wally move their family all over the world. She often had to run the household with three girls by herself while Wally was deployed or on TDY. Once settled in Las Vegas, Flo started working at Farmers Insurance as a part-time file clerk. From there, she obtained her agent’s license and worked for several independent brokers within the Las Vegas valley. After retirement, Flo spent time volunteering at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Southern Hills hospital, alongside her beloved husband.
She was so proud of her family and the life she built with her husband. Aside from family, she was most proud of being an American citizen as well as being British. Flo’s faith was a strong part of her identity, and she was proud to be a founding member of Faith Community Lutheran Church. She always made time for her loved ones, making sure they knew how much they meant to her. She will be remembered for her feistiness and always standing up for what she believed in.
Flo is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Wally, their son Stephen, parents Samuel and Grace, sister Olive and brother Alan. She is survived by her daughters; Susan, Linda (Roger) and Lauri (Bob), granddaughters Chelsea and Emma, and great-grandson Noah; siblings Joan, Hilda (Frank), Robert (Ann), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A joint memorial service for Wally and Flo will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 3505 S Town Center Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89135. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the church.
A private interment for family will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV where Florence will be laid to rest next to her loving husband.
The family would like to thank AMR, City of Las Vegas Fire Department, and the nurses and doctors at Centennial Hills Hospital.
