Emmet accepted Christ at an early age in Eudora, Arkansas. After graduation from high school in 1975 he served four years in the United States Army at Fort Ord in Monterey Bay, California. In 1980 he moved to Las Vegas and began a lifelong career with the State of Nevada Depart of Corrections. He then met and married his wife Linda Palmer (Foster) on May 29, 1982. In 1995 he received the State of Nevada Department of Corrections Officer of the year award. In his spare time he was a food connoisseur, and backyard grill master, well known for his BBQ ribs and hospitality.
He departed life August 2, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years Linda F. Palmer; two daughters Apel Porter, and Enisha Palmer; one son Eric Palmer; one stepson Aaron Campbell all of Las Vegas, NV; 5 grandchildren Antwain Allen, Joshua Campbell, Riah Allen, Loren Campbell, and Melinda Bruce. He had a total of 23 brothers and sister; Sam Brown and Bass Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Diane Johnson, Ray Palmer, Joanne Palmer, Joyce Taylor and John McCraney all of Little Rock, Ak, Noah Palmer Jr, General Palmer, Venelle Palmer, and Leroy Palmer all of Chicago, IL, Beatrice McDaniel and Willie B. Wooton, of Eudora, Ak, Cindy Keith of Vanburn, Ak, Lisa Turner and Everteen Jackson of Fort Smith, Ak, Cal Palmer of Texas, Willie Palmer, James Palmer, Clarence Palmer, Delores Palmer, John Edward Palmer and Richard Cashier all preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
