Elizabeth (Lucille) Munoz of Las Vegas passed away September 4, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she was 74 years old. She was born in Zeigler Illinois November 27, 1940 to Dr. Loyed and Queenie Simmons. Growing up the family moved several times, living in Dallas TX. , Tucson Az. and Riverside Ca. Elizabeth, known by Lucille to her friends, moved to Las Vegas in the very early 1960's. She got a job for the Highway department where she met and married Miguel B. Munoz. They had 3 children together and although they divorced in 1978 they remained lifelong friends. She loved to play soccer, softball and coached kids’ soccer for several years. Elizabeth graduated with honors from UNLV and received a Bachelor’s in Engineering. She worked for the Department of Energy, Western Area Power, and retired from EG&G in 1995. After retirement she kept busy working part time as a librarian and exploring the deserts and mountains in the area. She was active in a local Fossil club always looking for fossils and ancient petroglyphs. She is survived by her brother, David Simmons, her children John, Kathleen, Lawrence (Larry) and his wife Nancy, eight grandchildren, a nephew and a great grandchild. Services will be Friday September 11, 2015 at Palm Mortuary 7400 W Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas NV. 89129. Service at 1:00 P.M. viewing starting at 11:00 A.M. The Family would like to thank the staff of As Time Goes By group home and Nevada Senior Services who gave our mom such wonderful care the past few years. They are truly angels on earth.
