Donna was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her mother until the age of 13 when she moved to Los Angeles, CA to live with her father. Donna embarked on her educational path early she went on to work at Northrop Grumman where she assisted with the building of airplane parts for many years. While Donna was building her career at Northrop in 1985, she was blessed with her one and only child, Jennifer Green. Any and anyone who knew Donna knew she adored her beautiful baby girl. Donna sought a career change which led her to go back to school for medical billing a field she worked in up until her relocation to Las Vegas, NV in 2007. While living in Las Vegas, Donna was crowned “Grande”, the affectionate nickname given to her with the arrival of her granddaughter Jaya Sloan.
Donna accepted Christ at an early age and kept God at the forefront of her life no matter what. She enjoyed West Los Angeles church ministries whether it was in person services when she lived in Los Angeles or watching online. Donna was a self-proclaimed shoe lover. She loved to listen to music and would often enjoy her music while cleaning her home, a hobby we all know she will forever be best known for – to which she would always say cleaning her home brought great comfort and peace. Donna enjoyed taking scenic car rides, she also believed in not being wasteful – most knew her for recycling and reusing everything including grocery bags and even the aluminum foil. Donna should be remembered for her angelic smile and raspy voice, the care and love she showed to her family and friends, as well as her undying love for her Los Angeles Lakers, especially the late Kobe Bryant. Win or lose, she cheered for her purple and gold through it all.
Donna transitioned to her eternal life on April 9th 2021, waiting for her at the gates of heaven was her grandmother Clara “GiGi” Thompson and her loving father, the late Ronald Thompson. Donna leaves behind her mother, Judith Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Green; granddaughter, Jaya Sloan; stepsister, Victoria Carter, and a host of family and friends to cherish and keep her memory and legacy alive.
