She was born May 26, 1947, in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Stanley Alward Smith and his wife Agnes Marie (McLarney) Smith.
Donna graduated from St. Rose of Lima Elementary School in 1961 and Haddon Township High School in 1965.
She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing School in 1970. She was a registered nurse at Atlantic City Medical Center when she met her future husband Edward “Ed” Bernard Lisk, DO. They married in 1973.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at Stockton State College (Stockton University), followed by a Master of Education at Temple University in 1980.
In 1981, Donna, 34, suffered a horrific automobile accident that left her with brain and other injuries. She spent most of her remaining years in care facilities.
Despite her limitations, Donna had charisma and a bright, loving spirit that spread joy to others. She loved music, art, and, above all, people. She enjoyed singing and making people laugh. “Why not?” she would say with great gusto for life.
She was a devoted fan of Elvis and his music. She also loved her Miniature Schnauzer, Misty, and Misty’s pups Evelyn, Gertrude, and Wingnut.
Donna is survived by her brother, Gerard Peter Smith, MD, of White Plains, New York, and his wife Barbara (McInnis) Smith; and by her sister Agnes Gertrude “Trudy” Smith of Henderson, Nevada.
Her other survivors include nephews Brian Tario, Christopher Smith and Mark Smith; and nieces Hilary (Smith) Connery and Maura (Smith) Rampolla.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Lisk in 2009.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on May 26, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Henderson. Burial of her cremated remains will be at 2 p.m. at Palm Eastern Mortuary in Henderson.
In remembrance of Donna Lisk, the family requests consideration of a donation to Catholic Charities USA.
