Devona Rae Newell

Devona was born on July 15th, 1971, in Salem, Oregon, to Mae Cox. She was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada where she built a career working for the Jockey Club from 1992 - 2024. In 1995 she met the love of her life, Eric. Just as Luke Bryan had said, "I don't want this night to end," they didn't either. Eric and Devona married in 1996 and created a beautiful life together. She is survived by her mother, Mae Cox; husband, Eric Newell; four sons, Kurt (Nichole) Schmidt, Justin Newell, Dylan Newell, and Aiden Newell; brother, Kevin (Katrina) Rush; granddaughter, Taylor; nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends. Devona was preceded in death by her brother, Selwyn Rush.

Devona had a passion for decorating and was known for her talent in throwing unforgettable parties. She found joy in simple pleasures, like sipping margaritas and reading short novels. When the margarita wasn't in hand you could find her rooting for her boys at all their sporting events. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone who met her.

Devona will be remembered for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Devona will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
