Denise and I were childhood friends in Heidelberg, Germany.  We saw each other infrequently over the years.  She was a lovely human being and my wife and I were going to visit her and her family in Vegas someday.  Should not have waited, I miss her.

Denise and I were childhood friends in Heidelberg,  Germany.   Our families were friends so we saw each other over the years since.  Denise was a lovely child and young adult.  I am so sad to learn of her passing.  I had hoped that my wife and I could stop in Vegas some day and see her.  Can someone tell me how she passed?  I am very sad for the loss of a lovely woman.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Deni. We will cherish each and everytime we talked to her. What a beautiful person inside and out....always kind, always thoughtful, and always genuine. We wish you hope in the midst of sorrow, and comfort in the midst of pain.

I cannot begin to tell you how deeply saddened we are over the loss of this beautiful woman, Deni! 

As the President of Southern Nevada Pug Rescue, Deni and I became friends 13 years ago. Through these 13 years she has been a guardian angel to so many pugs who needed care that financially the rescue could not provide. 

My favorite memories of Deni are these - 1) I had done an out of state adoption of a pug named Zeus. I drove him 5 hours to CA to his new family and then made the 5 hour trip back home. I no sooner was home when the family in CA called and said "come back and get him". I did.  I posted on facebook of the ordeal and Deni reached out to me to do a trial adoption of Zeus. Zeus was instantly "home" with Deni and Steve and they all knew it.   2) a few years ago I was fostering a young pug named Tinks. She was a handful. She needed a very special family and I knew when Deni reached out to me about meeting her for a trial adoption, I knew it would be the best home ever for Tinks. Tinks and Zeus are now the best of friends, even when Tinks is "bossing" Zeus around.  My heart is broken for Steve, Zeus, Tinks, the children and grandchildren who loved Deni so,  and really for anyone who knew and loved Deni. 

We are beyond honored to have known Deni and so very grateful for her support with so many special need pugs. Our rescue will not be the same without Deni, nor will this community, her family, her pugs, no one. 

So very sorry. Heartbroken is an understatement.

Deni introduced me to a world of caring locals, welcomed me to her HELP board, and helped me me feel like I had found a permanent home in southern Nevada. She was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring person, she made this world a better place, and I will miss her. Deepest condolences to the family she leaves behind.

I met Deni in 2011 shortly after moving to Las Vegas from the East Bay...  What a powerhouse!  Deni got things done, a Superwoman!  She helped me get acclimated to Las Vegas, she shared her knowledge on Plants, Landscaping and dogs!  We had a great Lunch!  She didn't know me from Adam's left Ox, but we became friends.  I treasured our friendship, I will miss her.

I first met Deni at a party my parents were throwing for Jack and Evelyn... anniversary party I believe,  many years ago.  When Deni and I both inherited our fathers business interests, we became business partners.  Deni was funny, smart, prepared, and so personable.  We always sat next to each other in meetings and she would always giggle about something someone said or something she read.  She would always tap my arm, look at me above her glasses, and roll her eyes.  She was really one of a kind.  I'm going to miss you Deni.  Thank you for being a friend and a trusted business partner.

Deni was a friend from shortly after she moved here. I was so surprised to hear of her death. We worked together at HELP of Southern Nevada and we were both long time members of Junior League.  We were planning lunch together. I will miss her great personality and inspiration.  My deepest sympathy goes to Steve  and her family.   


How can it be that you are gone? You just wrote to me a few weeks ago...always encouraging and funny...you will be missed...my thoughts are with Steve and your family who will miss you each day. We had some wonderful dinners and parties with you besides the pleasure of working with you at HELP...RIP dear lady.

I volunteered and worked with Deni at Help of Southern NV. She was one of very few people that were willing to give me a chance after such a troubled past. She had her 'get it togther' moments with me and our private moments when tough love was needed by me. A wonderful woman! Grateful I was able to get to know her.

I knew Denise from when we were both 14 in Heidelberg, Germany.  She was a lively woman and the world is poorer with her gone.  RIP Denise.

Deni was larger than life- an amazing mentor and true supporter  of & friend to  women.  She reached out to offer her support to me through more than one really difficult time during and beyond JLLV when she could easily have  passed on by.. I knew I could always reach out to her and she would always make time for lunch, a heart to heart... anything she could offer.... I know I am only one of hundreds who have been changed by her warmth and generosity.  My deepest condolences to her family for this devastating loss. 

This is a great loss not only to Deni's family but to the entire Las Vegas community.  There was nothing she could not accomplish and she did so with her own unique style.  She was loved and admired by many.  It is a very sad day.

Deni touched our lives through kindness and grace.  We have so many warm memories of her, especially the enthralling stories she told about the fascinating places she traveled to and the people she met.  We will never forget her wonderful humor and her thoughtful attention to our daughter when we were away from home.   We miss her, and will try to be as good to others as she was to us.

It is our pleasure and honor to say that we have been friends of the Conrads for over 20 years.   Deni was a vibrant person, deeply involved in the Las Vegas community; she enhanced every project she touched.  

Deni, as Executive Director,  helped grow HELP of Southern Nevada to become a valuable resource in the Las Vegas Valley.  HELP gave people the skills to improve their lives and become productive citizens.  It was Steve's pleasure to serve on the board of HELP for many years.  Deni kept the board on track and organized the board to work as a team for the betterment of HELP and its mission.

We enjoyed many dinners with Deni and Steve at one of our favorite restaurants - Rhythm Kitchen.

Clearly, she was a family-oriented person, a wonderful grandmother, and a strong business and community leader.  It was our honor to be invited to the Conrads' annual Super Bowl party.  She will leave a hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Deni was a true woman of valor, role model mentor & friend.  She will be greatly missed.  Too many of the Wednesday lunch club are gone,hoping they can celebrate together as we remember them.

Total surprise.  I hired her at HELP,  she hired me at HELP.   She was always there for me.  Her last words to me were let's do lunch.    I will miss her greatly.  She was always a strong and vital person. 

Because of the marriage of our children, Heather and Shane, Deni came into my life.  She was a kind, caring strong woman.  Her family was the most important thing in her life.  I had many wonderful visits with her and Steve.  We will all miss her - gone too soon.   Bonnie Thomas

In August 2003 Deni hired me to be the Event & Development Manager at HELP of Southern Nevada.  Although I only worked for her for a little more than a year,  we stayed in touch after her retirement.  When I was named CEO in November 2016 she was one of the first people to call and express her congratulations and let me know how proud she was of me.  I always appreciated her candor and humor.
