David Lee Scott, Jr. was born on August 21, 1946, in Las Vegas, Nevada to the late Thelma and David L Scott Sr., one of twelve children. David attended elementary, junior, and senior high school in Las Vegas. He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1965 where he was an all-star athlete in football and track. After graduation from high school, he attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah where he continued his prestige football career.
After college, he returned to Las Vegas and married Zelma Marie Ware on February 18, 1966. They remained married for 57 years. David worked a variety of jobs including the Nevada Test Site, and McCarran Airport as a skycap for over 30 years until his retirement.
David enjoyed fishing, watching college basketball, and his favorite football teams the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. David also enjoyed cooking for his family, especially barbecuing on the grill. He was the “Grill Master”. David also enjoyed listening to the down home blues, with his favorite cocktail as he worked in his garden growing his famous tomatoes and greens.
David leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Zelma Marie Scott; his children, Terrella Eppenger (Gabriel), Derek Scott, David Scott, III, and Buffy Grove (André); sisters, Velma Scott, Janice Rainey, Beverly Miles (Eddie), Debra Scott, Sandra Lee (Michael); brother Ricky Scott (Marlene); grandchildren Shatoya Scott, Ayrreol Eppenger, Bianca Scott, David Scott IV, Urie Banks, Derek Scott Jr., Davian Banks, Madison Eppenger, Ananda Grove, and Ian Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones. David was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert, Jesse, Jerry, and Ronald; his sister Jean; children Mercedes Banks and Dino Banks; and grandson Gianni Scott Corsentino.
