Cory was renowned for his exceptional skills in engine fabrication and restoration. His passion for mechanics extended from building race engines and dragsters to customizing his 1972 Winnebago. An adventurous spirit, Cory also made his mark and became known as "The Airplane Guy" in Pahrump after becoming a self taught ultralight pilot who flew aerial acrobatics for fun and captivated many. Cory attended Rancho High School in Las Vegas and went on to establish a successful career with notable stints at Motor Mission Machine Shop, Universal Automotive Machine, Fultz Automotive Machine Shop, and his own venture, Cory's Automotive Repairs and Customization Garage. He competed in Division 7 Drag Racing with his pro-mod "Wild Cherry" 1932 Fiat and later in his injected alcohol dragster. He graduated from going fast on the ground to fly the skies over Pahrump in his upgraded Phantom single seat Ultralight, or his Quicksilver two-seater with his wife and co-pilot Kimberly. He took to the skies like
a duck to water after only having had one flying lesson.
He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly O'Neill; ex-wife, Jodina Emon; daughters, Tiffany Pabst (Dale), Morgan Vas (Alan), Brittany O'Neill, and Kialee O'Neill; grandchildren, Carsen Vas, Mason Vas, Aubrey Vas, Addison Vas, and Tatum Cory Pabst; brother, Carl O'Neill (Deborah); sisters, Carol Hess (Dan) and Corinna Berg (Greg); along with many more family members and friends who cherished him.
