Cornelia Secounda (“Connie”) Lawson, 69, of Las Vegas, NV, transitioned to her eternal life on Friday, October 16, 2020 in her home, surrounded by her three children, grandchildren, family, lifetime friend, and caregivers. She was born on March 23rd in Alabama to Charles and Mollie. Her family moved to Kentucky where she spent her childhood and adolescent years. After her high school graduation, she moved from Kentucky to Michigan. She is a graduate of Wayne State College, Michigan and majored in Criminal Justice. When she visited her best friend in the late 70’s in Las Vegas, She decided that it would be her permanent residence. Her parents and sister soon joined her in Las Vegas, and they too became permanent residents.
Connie was a loving, generous, intelligent, caring woman who inspired all around her. She was a socialite and entrepreneur, and as such made many enduring friendships. One of her passions was traveling. She took her dream trip to Dubai in 2018. She loved her family with her whole heart and dedicated herself to making sure they were always provided with the best! She genuinely loved people and helping them with life challenges. She is most fondly remembered for serving over 30 years as a Child Protective Services Officer for Clark County. In addition, she enjoyed a second successful career as a licensed Realtor with ASF Realty & Investments.
She is survived by her mother (Mollie), her sister Myra Davis-Alston(Barry), daughters LaTondia (Carlos Dew) Tanika (Lance) Burns, son Charles Williams, grandchildren Jervaie, Jamar, Tatiana, King, Prince Burns and Demetrius, great grandchild , Zayden McCoy, Nephews; Sanford (Terri) Davis, Stephen Davis and David (Sharonda) Foster, Michael, Nieces; Rhonda, Richard and Debra Lawson, Maternal Uncle, Jimmie (Carol) Benford, Maternal Aunt, Marie Benford, and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be at Palm Mortuary, Downtown 1325 N. Main St. Las Vegas, NV 89101 on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2 pm.
Virtual memorial services will be broadcast on Face Book live, Palms Downtown Mortuary.
Connie loved Hawaii. She was planning to make her next move to Hawaii. Her memories will be celebrated and honored on her next birthday 2021, in ocean side Lantern floating services.
