Chuck was born at Enterprise, KS on December 8, 1939 to Carl Herrmann and Loretta Fanson Herrmann. As a young child the family moved to Wichita, KS where he attended Alcott Elementary and East High School. He served in the USAF mostly at Nellis AFB. He was employed at Titanium Metals in Henderson for 23 years and subsequently owned and operated Desert Southwest Airlines as a flight instructor and charter pilot. His greatest joy was taking someone who knew nothing about flying and turning them into a licensed pilot. He also took pride in flying kids in the Young Eagles program. He enjoyed cars, from racing stock cars at the old Craig Road Speedway, to owning a classic Mustang. He was a member of the Mustang and Classic Ford Club of Las Vegas. He took dance lessons and participated in many showcases at Arthur Murry Dance Studio.
He is predeceased by his parents and infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice, his daughter Debra Kay, of Henderson, Granddaughters Kayla Muckley of Sequim, WA, Nicole Kemp of Molalla, OR, and Courtney Moore of Oregon City, OR, six great-grandchildren, his brother Wesley Herrmann of Tempe, AZ, and many extended family members.
Services will be at Palm Eastern Mortuary on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Honor Flight of Southern Nevada.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Herrmann family.
