Carol has four siblings: Barbara (Gary) Earl, Richard (Cherie) Cawley, Lynn (Mark) Rasmussen, and
Ray (Lori) Cawley.
Carol’s father was a pilot for Western Airlines and she would often tell her children how she fondly remembers seeing her father come home in his uniform and how she loved wearing his pilot’s cap. At ten years of age, her world was shattered after her father passed away in a tragic plane crash over Wyoming. While this incident altered the trajectory of her life, she was fortunate to gain a new family when her mother re-married, which brought Elden C. Schow and his five children into the family.
Carol has always been passionate about words, newspapers, and editing, which was a tremendous asset to her children’s English papers when they were in school. Carol attended Brigham Young University as a journalism major which is where she met her sweetheart, Elmer Brent Frazier. The two married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 26, 1964 and had a handful of children: Dayna (Jeff) Wren, Jeffrey Brent Frazier, Todd Madsen (Kimberly) Frazier, Raelynn (Fabian) Grasso, Roxanne (Scott) Smith, and Daniela Barragan Maynez. Carol and Brent also have 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Carol and Brent were both native Utahans and spent their marriage supporting each other’s wishes. In 1976, Brent was given an opportunity to open an agency for LDS Family Services in New England, New York, and Eastern Canada. Carol was willing to give up all she was familiar with to support her husband’s young career, which she did happily for seven years with five growing children. During this time, she was called to be the ward’s Relief Society President in this new growth area that met in a school building while the new chapel was being built. She was a pioneer who went East to serve her God, while many of her ancestors came West to do the same. Her children reflect back on their childhood growing up in New England fondly, as it provided a rich terrain of development and discovery that would not have otherwise been possible. Carol and Brent were transferred back to Utah in 1983 to finish his career.
Upon Brent’s retirement, Carol, in turn, asked Brent to support her wishes to move to Las Vegas. She wanted to be near the Red Rocks so that she could paint their magnificent features. Carol and Brent moved to Las Vegas and joined the Red Rock Stake in 2004, where they enjoyed being surrogate parents and grandparents to those in their ministry.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Ray, and a granddaughter.
Brent and his children would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to El Jen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services on 5538 W. Duncan Dr. Las Vegas NV 89130, and to Hospice Del Sol 3634 North Rancho Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89130. The family knows that Carol kept them on their toes yet rewarded them with her dry and witty sense of humor.
The children would also like to thank the Pueblo Ward of the Las Vegas, NV Desert Foothills Stake, for providing companionship and fellowship to their father; specifically, Bishops Eric Johnson and John Burk, and Relief Society Presidents Amanda Burk and Lani Wong. This care for their father has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by his children as they have witnessed their father continue to flourish and prosper when he shares his stories and experiences.
