Bruce Wilmot Schleiker, age 92, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. Bruce was born on February 15, 1932 in Coolbaugh, Pennsylvania. Bruce was raised in Pennsylvania by parents Arthur and Elizabeth Williams. While in high school, Bruce would meet the love of his life, Josephine Lawton. The happy couple would later graduate in 1950 from Bristol High School and marry in 1952. It was right after his graduation from high school that Bruce would begin is 40+ year career at Rohm and Haas Manufacturing in Bristol, Pennsylvania. After 4 decades in their Bristol home building a life and raising their family, the couple would retire to Las Vegas in 1992.
Bruce is remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a family man through and through. During the 1960s, Bruce got the itch to start camping and shared that excitement with his family. One summer vacation, he and Josephine took the family on a four-week cross country camping adventure in a popup tent trailer resulting in many memories and stories that are still told today, with great fondness. Bruce loved Josephine deeply. He always took care of her and would become her fulltime caregiver during her battle with Alzheimer's.
Bruce was an avid bowler and was active in both the Youth Bowling Association and the Men's Bowling Association in Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He was an amateur photographer who gained local recognition for his work. Bruce also dabbled in wood-working and stained glass art. He was known by his friends and family to be a frugal man and was self-described as the "Menace of Las Vegas."
Bruce is preceded in passing by his wife of 61 years, Josephine Schleiker.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Jim) Zelenski, Paul (Fely) Schleiker and Scott (Socorro) Schleiker; grandchildren, Marcie (Jay) Hubbard and Stacy (Derek) O'Mara, Stephanie (Matt) McCune, Ryann (Shawn) Milton, Isabella Schleiker and Zachary Schleiker; great grandchildren, Julia Hubbard and Dylan Hubbard, Madelyn O'Mara and Charlotte O'Mara, Nolan Milton, Easton Milton and Colton Milton; and brother Neil (Gert) Schleiker.
