Betty June Routh was born in Byron Michigan on July 25, 1923. She moved to Las Vegas in 1963, where she remained until her passing on February 5, 2022 at the age of 98 at Sunrise Hospital. She is survived by her brother Clinton Vanwagoner and her children Margo Seibert, Roxanne Dusenbery, Lee Harman, Kenny Routh, Don Routh, more than 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and several great great grand children.
She retired as a seamstress from the Sahara Hotel in the 1980s where she had met her husband Clyde Harvey Routh. They were married on 11/20/1972 and united two large families who all enjoyed many adventurous camping trips to the ‘5 acres’ and fantastic large holiday gatherings in their home. Clyde passed away 2/7/1999; Betty had never since remarried and has now joined him in the afterlife. She was also preceded in death by her brother Milton Van Wagoner and children Rose Lamb, Melvin Routh and Bob Routh.
Betty was an avid reader of romance novels, enjoyed cross word puzzles, sewing and patching garments, but her favorite was crocheting. Betty loved her family dearly and she took great pride in spending quality time together patiently teaching anyone who wanted to learn her hobbies, particularly how to crochet. Betty was the foundation of our family and a ‘mom to all’, she took anyone into her home who needed a warm delicious home cooked meal, a cookie from her (never empty) cookie jar, or just a good conversation. She had an open and understanding heart and offered comforting, yet honest advice. She took care of our wounds and our broken hearts, and she filled our souls with knowledge and wisdom. Betty will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. God decided it was her time to join the other angels in heaven, and heaven has gained one amazing angel.
A lifetime just wasn’t long enough.
