Barbara Foy peacefully passed from this earth Wednesday September 7, 2022 at the age of 92. She will be joining our Heavenly Father’s greatest production show in which she’ll be singing, tap dancing, and creating spectacular flying effects with her husband of over 50 years Peter and son Garry.
Born in 1930 in London England into a theatrical family, her Mother Violet Warren raised her emphasizing show business as a career, winning awards in Shirley Temple competitions of the time. Her talent for performance was recognized gaining her entry into the Tiny Tappers Dance Troup at the tender age of 12. She starred in pantomimes singing, dancing, and acting in comedy sketches landing roles such as the lead character in “Cinderella” where she met and married the love of her life Peter Foy. They toured together throughout England in the show “Up for the Cup” then starred in London’s West End production of “Wish You Were Here”.
They made the Transatlantic journey from the West End to Broadway via the Queen Mary; once in New York City she continued to star in musical and repertory theatre, supper clubs, industrial shows, and radio and television. She doubled for Shirley Temple in a dance sequence on the TV Special “The Little Mermaid” did a flying sequence on the “Jackie Gleason Show”, appeared on “The Gary Moore and Danny Thomas Shows”, and the “Groucho Marx Show……You Bet Your Life”.
After the birth of their son Garry, Peter and Barbara moved to Hollywood, CA; there Barbara secured a recording contract and was honored by receiving the pick of the month for her recording “Our Love is Timeless”. Their daughter Teresa was born in Hollywood in December of 1960.
In 1965 Barbara was offered the role as lead singer in the show “Hello America” followed by “Pzazz ‘68” at the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino. Her success in those shows presented the opportunity to develop her own act “Barbara Foy and the Britons” performing nightly in the main lounge at the Desert Inn…. all of this while raising a family.
Since that time, Barbara would perform from time to time in Las Vegas, New York, and Connecticut; however, her main focus was behind the scenes helping Peter and Garry make “Flying by Foy” the most recognized performer flying company in the world. Her love of show business was present every day; whether participating in meetings, daily visits to the office in Las Vegas, or training performers to fly like angels; Barbara’s contribution to “Flying by Foy” was second only to her most precious production Garry and Teresa.
She is survived and missed by her loving family; daughter Teresa (Joe), and grandchildren Danial, and James McGeough.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Foy family.
