Roderick J Gillis III

Rick was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to parents Jean and Roderick Gillis II. Rick graduated from Clearwater High School and continued his education at the University of Tampa graduating with his BS degree. Rick and Georgette married June 15,1967 after meeting on the beach and falling in love! Rick was a Broker/Owner of Viewpoint Realty International, Inc. since 1977.

Rick had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing and was a member of the FTBOA (Florida Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Assoc) for many years while racing over 17 of his very own horses. His passion and hobbies often included horse racing, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family at home and at his Lake House in Ocala.

Rick was an amazing one of a kind Husband, Father, Papa & Coach. He was honored with an induction into the Hall of Fame for the University of Tampa for being an All American Football Player along with his coaching career for the University.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Georgette Gillis; his children, Dawn Watts and Ryan (Jill) Gillis; and his special grandchildren, Lance corporal Logan Watts, Carly Watts, Rylie Gillis & Jilena Gillis. Rick also leaves behind his sister, Jean Marie Estadt and brother Tom Gillis.

Services will be held at St Patrick Catholic Church,1507 Trotter Rd, Largo, Fl 33770 at 10:00am Saturday August 13, 2022.
