A native of Pinellas County, he graduated from Largo High School in 1948.
Robert served in the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He was a retired Class A Florida state general contractor.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He served on the City of Largo Recreation Board for twelve years and was a dedicated member of the Anona United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Martha; two sons, Wade (Lori) and Guy (Michele); grandchildren, Aubrey Smith, Graham Gibson, Hunter Gibson, Joseph McLemore and six great-grandchildren.
A receiving of friends and family for Robert will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, followed by a celebration of life from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
