She was born November 1, 1939 to George Winbigler and Helen (Thomas) Wingbigler in Mansfield, Ohio.
Patricia was a beloved wife, mom, sister, Me-maw and devoted friend.
Patricia was the youngest of seven children. After graduating high school, she met her husband, Robert Koons, at the local bowling alley. They were married on December 6th, 1958 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. In 1974, they and their three children moved to Seminole, FL. When the kids settled in school, Pat went back to work in the insurance industry, where she held various positions until she retired in 2010. In her spare time, Pat loved traveling with her family, catching up with old work friends, and eating Sunday breakfast at the Frog Pong, in Redington Beach – every Sunday for the past 30 years. She had an immense love for butterflies and enjoyed reading a good book, eating a big piece of chocolate cake and she never ate taco she did not like. The most joy she had was the time she spent with her grandchildren. Whether it was attending a school concert, track and field event, cheerleading competition, a football game or a dance recital, she never missed an event.
She is survived by her husband Robert Koons, daughters Tammy Sweat, Tracey Young and Terri Koons, sister Mary Ellen Grega of Mansfield, Ohio and grandchildren, Alexandria McGuire (Joe), Rachel Sweat, Ethan Young, Thomas Koons and Robyn Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Winbigler, Helen (Thomas) Winbigler, sisters Mildred Rock, Dorothy Winbigler, Brothers Louie Winbigler, Richard Winbigler and John Winbigler and Grandson Eric Young.
There will be a celebration of life Saturday February 11th at 2 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home and Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo.
